With D-BT04 introducing evolutions to the original five starter deck bosses, Aurora Fierce Princess Seraph Purelight has changed the playstyle of Prison for the better. To understand why, let’s take a look back at the development from D-BT02 to now. If you want to see D-BT01 and D-SS01 decklists, please check out the previous installments.
Now as a refresher, the base strategy of any of these decklists is to hit the prisoner threshold for Seraph to be able to perform triple drive increasing the chance of pulling triggers. The deck creates rear-guard lanes of 23000 or higher to hit exactly on points with Grade 3 base power for pressure in guarding. As a backup plan, the player stalls and force a deck-out on the opponent.

In D-BT02, the biggest two revolutionary cards introduced were Bizarre Beast, Bagumotor and Moment of Capture! Aurora Battle Princess 24-hr Coverage!.
From D-SS01, we were introduced to Aurora Battle Princess, Spark Limone giving an alternative way to imprison via the drop zone. However, this method was not consistent and lacked the correct timing. Most of the setup for Prison is hitting the number of imprisonment before the battle phase allowing your rear-guards to already be powered up and Seraph Snow to have the triple drive, especially when hitting Star Dragon Deity of Infinitude, Eldobreath. Spark Limone can only imprison from drop if this unit hits meaning it is already during the battle phase. You can use this during the early game on Grade 2 turn, but there are also issues with this such as lack of drop zone or even units in drop to imprison.
Bizarre Beast, Bagumotor comes into play removing the need to use Spark Limone as Bagumotor can rest itself to imprison 1 unit from drop if there are 1 or less in prison during the main phase. This timing allows better setup before the battle phase when you need the number of prisoners. Also by being a grade 1 unit, this leaves room for more attackers and targets to rest for the initial prison setup.
Next, we have the Normal Order, Moment of Capture! Aurora Battle Princess 24-hr Coverage!. By Soul-Blasting 1, your opponent chooses a card from hand and imprisons it if they have four or more in hand. If there are 3 in prison, you choose one of your units and give them +5000 power until the end of turn. This forces the opponent to imprison a card from hand limits options as well set up for a solid finish if the player has managed to have them at 3 cards in hand during the battle phase.
Finally, the last card that should be mentioned out of this set is Aurora Battle Princess, Perio Turquoise. Although she cannot imprison a unit herself, she is a 15000 power grade 2 beater that disincentives the opponent to imprison when a unit has been called the rear-guard lose -5000 power for the rest of the turn. Having two out on the field can reduce a freed prisoner by -10000 power.
With these new additions here is the example decklist for D-BT02:

This decklist handled well but not quite the top deck and was more of a gatekeeper for those who could not pass this deck easily.
Next up were D-BT03 and Promos depending on which language of the game you were playing.

Before D-BT03, there was a Japanese exclusive special promo release for the Lyrical Monasterio introducing us to a brand new addition that could be considered the bread and butter of the deck, Aurora Battle Princess, Accuse Makarite. Another new introduction to new alternative imprisonment by removing the opponent’s top deck was a welcoming edition and currently has no exact alternative at the time of writing.
Removing the opponent’s top deck has several applications such as moving them 1 card closer to deck out, forcing a stacked top deck to change, or even possibly removing the opponent’s chance to even use their Over Trigger in the game. At the same time, Makarite can become a 15000 on the turn she is called if there are 2 or more imprisoned. In a mirror match with another prison player, she can be the deciding factor as calling her out can force the deck out, which prison players are prone to.
This skill is a luxury as this made getting 3 imprison easier than relying on the opponent’s field to imprison rear-guards. However, in the English version, this promo was never released during the same time and has lowered the potency of the deck.

In D-BT03, there was hardly any change in the deck as the support was lackluster, and the first set that Prison did not receive a RRR. The decklist did not change for the most part and the lists were almost the same as the ones.

As for English players, there was only one card that really stood out Aurora Battle Princess, Cuff Spring, which imprisoned 1 from the opponent’s hand, but in return for it being free, the opponent draws 1. This was a cycle for the opponent as they can simply put whatever card they wanted to be superior called later and possibly strengthen their hand while the prison player, they gained 1 imprisoned and there was no cost by the player. Without Accuse Makarite in English, this was the only card that allowed the player to hit the 3rd in prison spot.

Finally, we hit D-BT04 showing the evolved ace of the deck Aurora Fierce Princess, Seraph Purelight. By sacrificing the use of Persona Riding, you can use these Grade 4s for a modified playstyle for less work as Purelight finally gave what the deck needed, a solid finish to win the game.
By riding Purelight, you can Counter-Blast 1 and Soul-Blast 1 card with the Seraph name, your opponent chooses 2 cards from each hand, soul, and rear-guards to be imprisoned making a total of 6 imprisoned. During your turn for every 2 cards in prison, you gain +5000 power. If you have 10 imprisoned, you gain a critical. Due to being a Grade 4, she also has triple drive natural making it no longer necessary to hit 3 prisoners on each of your turns.
Depending on the match up, you may hit this goal of having 10 or more prisoners for a finish. However, you are more likely to have a decent amount of prisoners and continue with swinging with triple drive.
However, this does remove quite a bit from the deck such as Bagumotor as when you hit 2 imprison can no longer use his ability for almost the rest of the game as removing the number of prisoners does become harder the longer the game goes. Players may still use it but as an early game.
With the new goal, different cards have changed their usefulness as Cuff Spring now becomes a more viable card pushing towards getting 10 imprisoned. As for Accuse Makarite in the English Version, she will be released in a similar promotion for D-BT04 making her available just in time.
Another new card that was introduced was Aurora Battle Princess, Suppress Gleamer. She is a grade 1 13000 power base just by having Seraph as the Vanguard giving her the ability to be either a front-row attacker or back row booster. In addition, when she is called from hand and if you have 3 prisoners, she can call out another copy of herself from the deck helping with the field.
The following decklists is an example of a Purelight build

The Deck has some wiggle room for tech cards to fit your playstyle or change it to deal with certain match ups. Here are a couple of ideas:

On the left is Derii Violet, who can help completely defend against Grade 2 and lower attacks, especially against decks utilizing these low grades such as Magnolia.
In contrast on the right is Explosive! Melting Heart!, which is a Blitz Order that takes advantage of the number of cards imprisoned to reduce the attacking power of a unit until the end of turn. This card works best against decks that re-stand units multiple times.

Both of these play a similar role but have different styles. Tazer Lage can completely stun any rear-guard called outside of hand preventing them to attack but would have Grade 3.
Perio Turquioise reduce the power of all units called from Prison making it easier to Guard as well as being a 15000 beater Grade 2.

Finally, let’s take a look at Aurora Battle Princess Dragnet, Intense Record of Great Pursuit and Execute Lemonun.
Great Pursuit is a solid counter for decks that have untouchable units due to not being able to be targeted such as Trickstar or Sylvan Horned Beast, Enpix, .
Execute Lemonun is more of a finisher adding Critical and Attack Power when hitting a specific number of prisoners.
In short, the deck has come a long way from just trying to hit its mark of 3 imprisoned to now going for the goal of 10 with a higher winning chance. Each set has slowly evolved this deck in different ways improving the imprisoning and the difference of build depending on the version of the game. With set 5 introducing a new Ride Line, the expectation is this deck has a lower chance of receiving direct support, but hopefully with Season 3 overDress continues to evolve prison to new heights.
